Campaign Manager - Campaigns
Email Events And Inbound EventsEvents are external actions taken by campaign recipients. They are often viewed as feedback (positive or negative) to measure the success of the campaign, or used to trigger moving a recipient to a specific phase of campaign based on that action. The definition of what constitutes an event is open, but typical examples include: product purchasing as a result of a campaign, a recipient using the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of an email, a person signing up to a loyalty scheme advertised on a billboard, or registering on a website, or responding to an offer advertised in the mainstream media. You can use the following elements to capture Events, either together or separately: Email Manager Events are collected automatically. These events can be used in a campaign with Email Event elements, to trigger an action when an email is opened, or a link in the email is clicked. For example, a campaign recipient clicks a link in an email to subscribe to your newsletter, the event is picked up using Email Event, they are added to your subscribed list, and a response email is triggered to inform them. Inbound Events are used to capture events coming in to Campaign Manager from other systems, such as a call center or a website. These events can be used to provide triggers for subsequent actions. For example, a dropped basket event occurs on your website for a known recipient which triggers an offer email for the items that were in the basket. An example of how events can workYour company launches a new product and to generate interest you email 2,000 of your best customers offering them a discount on the product, with a link in the email to your website where they can redeem the discount and purchase the product. Making a purchase via this link fires off an event. This event is imported into Campaign Manager and used to trigger subsequent Campaign actions - the allocation of loyalty points and a thank you email. |
